Had the chance to start painting outside again, now in Eugene, OR. This is a view through the University of Oregon campus towards the new Matthew Knight Arena, home to the UO basketball team. More from Eugene to come. Acrylic on canvas, 16″ x 20″. Part of the outer world gallery.
Actually started this about a year ago but went traveling. Based on a memory of flying east during a sunset. Mixed media on canvas, 40″ x 30″. See in outer world.
A painting for my Grandfather, Joe Rodgers, who often drew the “lucky rabbit” while serving in WWII in the navy to illustrate the boat’s travels. This painting was brought to the 2012 reunion in Chicago. He would bring similar paintings to the reunions in the past but has stopped this practice in recent years. I chose to put the rabbit (Bugs) in front of Cloud Gate, the public sculpture by Anish Kapoor because it was my favorite site when I visited Chicago a few years back.
The tall building in the center is One57 – a new residential skyscraper that is making a big impact on the skyline. No doubt it will provide some incredible views of the park and surrounding neighborhoods. This piece is also posted in the Outer World gallery.
